The new maximum document preparation fee for 2012 is $108 for paper-based title and registration work, or $129 for electronic documentation preparation work. Such work must be actually performed by the licensed dealer that also has an agent contract with the Pennsylvania Department of Transportation. It takes a few months for the statistics regarding the previous calendar year to arrive from the U.S. Department of Labor. Today, January 19, 2012, DOL announced the Urban Consumer Price Index ("CPI-U") increase over the past 12 months. Based on a CPI-U increase of 3.0%, the document preparation fee for 2012 increased from the 2011 figures of $105 and $125 respectively to the 2012 figures of $108 paper and $129 electronic document preparation work stated above. |
